Organization

The whole Project is divided into workpackages, see section packages, and each of them is in charge of one coordinator. The workpackages are also subdivided into tasks.

Methodology

The activities of the tasks are planned as follows:

  • Analysis and requirements specifications.
  • Design and development of the elements or techniques needed to satisfy the goals of the task.
  • Implementation of the components and prototyping.
  • Validation of the results by means of study cases.

Coordination

The Coordinator of the Project is in charge of the relationship with CyTED and other external entities. He also manages the funding of the Project.

The Managing Committee involves a member of each of the reseach groups participating in the Project. Each member of the Committee is responsible for the managing and coordination of her group for the fulfilment of the duties in charge.

The Scientific Committee is composed of the persons responsible for each workpackage. It is in charge of the management of all the research activities, the coordination of the groups involved in each task, and the integration of the joint activities.

Both committees held a ``virtual meeting'' every three months, and one annual presential meeting, the General Coordination Meeting. The activities carried out in the year are analyzed in this annual meeting. Decisions are taken about the future tasks in order to grant the best fulfilment of the goals of the Project.

The first meeting of the Scientific Committee was held on UCM, Madrid, on 2006 March 30th and 31th. The coordinators of the five workpackages met to take some important decisions, like the election of the middleware to be used and the dates for future coordination meetings of the 23 participant groups belonging to 13 different countries.

Last summer, in coincidence with the XXXII Latin American Conference on Computation, CLEI 2006, was held the anual meeting of the CyTEDGrid Project. 23 participants of a total of 10 Ibero American countries met for three days in the city of Santiago de Chile. Accordingly to the kickoff meeting goals, the coordinators of each of the workpackages informed about the progress in their areas. The main objectives of the Project for this first year have been reached. Now there exists a working Grid infrastructure with some of the participants groups involved. Also, decisions where taken about a number of stay possibilities to improve the exchange of knowledge among the groups.

Besides these two committees there also exist some other Coordination Committees for each workpackage, composed of the coordinator of the package and a responsible person of each research group participating in it. This committees are in charge of fulfiling the implementation of the foreseen work plan, and they must report the completion of the tasks to the Scientific and Managing Committees.
